Since its inception in 1995, The Foundation of the American Society of Neuroradiology has awarded nearly $6 Million dollars to fund 99 young investigators enabling them to pursue their interests and establish themselves in the field of neuroradiology. Over $340,000 in grants is awarded annually. Your support is paramount to the Foundation’s ability to continue funding opportunities for promising young investigators. Philanthropic investment of major donors who understand the importance of research in neuroradiology will yield more expert diagnoses, leading to targeted care for patients and more sophisticated approaches to sensitive, complex, and devastating diseases.

Comparative Effectiveness Research Award
This award was created to support investigators in the generation and synthesis of evidence that compares the benefits and harms of diagnostic imaging methods or interventions to prevent, diagnose, treat, and monitor a clinical condition or to improve the delivery of care. Comparative effectiveness research (CER) is valuable to clinicians, patients, purchasers, and policy makers in making informed decisions that will improve health care at both the individual and population levels. CER includes the direct comparison of diagnostic imaging modalities or interventions for a specific disease in a study population. Neuroradiologists have an important role in the development of new imaging technologies and image-guided procedures, as well as in the assessment of these techniques in the clinical care of patients.FAQClick here to view the prospectus for this award »Click here for the list of the past recipients of this award »

Scholar Award in Neuroradiology ResearchSince 1995, the Foundation of the ASNR has been in the process of raising funds to support neuroradiology research. This is one of the most important goals of the Foundation and ASNR as the premier organization for neuroradiology. This award was created for young investigators in the early stages of their careers, to enhance their competency in areas important to the future of neuroradiology, including health services research, physiological imaging, and interventional neuroradiology. It also affords the Foundation the opportunity to begin to develop leadership in these areas. Collaborative Neuroimaging Research GrantThe Collaborative Neuroimaging Research Grant was created to foster innovative collaboration between neuroradiology physicians and scientists. This grant is intended to provide joint collaborative opportunities for MD, PhD, and MD-PhD investigators to work together in advancing the science of neuroradiology. Scientific research is the foundation upon which the clinical practice of neuroradiology is built. Partnerships between neuroradiology clinicians and scientists have traditionally led the development, translation, and implementation of new imaging technologies and image-guided procedures. The directive of this award is to train physicians and scientists in collaborative neuroimaging research. Although any research area in neuroradiology will be considered, the award emphasizes the development of innovative diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology techniques, or basic science research with a translational component. |

The Foundation of the ASNR and Partner Organizations established an award in 2011 to provide research opportunities for PhD investigators to advance the science of Neuroradiology. Scientific research is the foundation upon which the clinical practice of Neuroradiology is built. Research scientists in partnership with radiologists have traditionally led the development of new imaging technologies and image-guided procedures. The directive of these awards is to assist young scientists in their transition to becoming independent investigators in Neuroradiology research as well as to help established investigators initiate new projects with relevance to Neuroradiology. Although any research area in Neuroradiology will be considered, the awards emphasize basic science and general and interventional Neuroradiology.
